Returning to the Lord Leycester after a years’ break are our ever-popular Smart Talks – a series of talks by learned academics, non-academics, and smart people across a variety of topics, with a traditional supper served alongside.

 

Tickets cost £25.00 per head which includes the presentation, supper, and your first drink. Additional drinks are available to purchase throughout the evening.

 

Smart Talks run on the 3rd Thursday of every month; 6pm-8pm

Marianne Pitts will discuss the 450 year history of the Lord Leycester from an unusual angle… From riches to rags, what happened to the Lord Leycester’s money?

 

Marianne will delve into the turbulent history of the finances of the Lord Leycester, explaining the financial journey of a place that once hosted a Royal Banquet for King James I but has subsequently fallen into various states of disrepair over the following centuries until today, with a brand new restoration project trying to turn the tide of diminishing resources.

Ginny Davis, ‘What Lies Beneath the Surface’: 18th April 2024, 6pm-8pm 

Actress and former barrister, Ginny Davis, draws on personal experience to inform and entertain audiences with facts surrounding the characters and setting of her psychological suspense novel “What Lies Beneath The Surface.”

 

What are High Court judges? What do they do? Where do they come from? Where do they work? Why do they need judges’ lodgings?

Is truth telling always straightforward? Should it always be told? Really?

Barristers and actors. Are they similar?

How easy is it to research a novel during lockdown and where is the Regent’s Canal?

Answers to these questions and more are provided in this entertaining, informative and thought-provoking talk.
