Restoration

In 1850 the Lord Leycester went through a major restoration and thousands of Victorian visitors flocked to see our authentic medieval site.  In the 1950’s, the site saw a further refurbishment with much of the medieval “bones” of the site repaired.  Most recently we have completed a 21st century, multi-million pound, restoration project that has upgraded 1950’s heating and electricity, replaced rotten beams, repaired the wattle and daub, and created modern spaces for visitors with hands on and interesting exhibits to tell our story.  We are now fully reopen and look forward to sharing our fascinating heritage site with all of you!
