Candlelit Christmas Tours

Journey through nearly 900 years of Christmas at the Lord Leycester on an atmospheric after-hours candlelit tour.

Explore our historic buildings with a costumed guide who brings Christmases past to life, from medieval feasts and Tudor festivities to Victorian traditions and the customs we still recognise today.

Discover how generations of Guildsmen, Masters and Brethren celebrated the season, before finishing your journey by candlelight in the medieval Chapel of St James.

Dates: Fridays and Saturdays throughout December

Time: 6:30pm–7:30pm

Tickets: £15 per person

Make an evening of it

Our Great Hall Café will open especially for the occasion from 5pm until 6:30pm, serving a special festive menu alongside seasonal drinks and treats.

Arrive early, enjoy something festive in the warmth of the Great Hall, and your guide will collect you when it’s time for the tour to begin.

Before you visit

The Lord Leycester is a historic medieval site with uneven floors, narrow staircases and historic access routes. Unfortunately, some areas of this tour are not accessible to wheelchair users or visitors with limited mobility.

Please wrap up warm, as many of our historic spaces are unheated, including the Chapel. Comfortable, sensible footwear is also recommended.

The tour lasts approximately one hour and is primarily aimed at adults and older children.
