the Lord Leycester

The Lord Leycester is a charitable institution with a history that spans over four centuries. Founded in 1571 by Robert Dudley, 1st Earl of Leicester, our organization was established as an almshouse for those “maimed or hurt in the wars in service of the Queen’s majesty.” Over the years, we have continued to uphold this noble tradition, and today, we provide care for ex-servicemen, known as the Brethren, who have called our site home for more than 450 years.

It is with immense pride that we can say that our unique community continues to thrive, thanks in large part to the unwavering support of individuals like you. Your generosity and compassion have been the cornerstone of our ability to provide essential care for the Brethren’s health, wellbeing, and their overall quality of life. Your kindness enables us to maintain the extraordinary sense of community that defines our institution.

However, to continue our mission and preserve our exceptional philanthropic heritage, as well as the breathtaking beauty of our grounds, we rely on the much-needed income and generosity of friends and supporters like you. As we look to the future, it is our collective responsibility to ensure that this historic institution endures, so future generations can share in the wonder of our remarkable history.

We humbly request your help in our ongoing efforts to raise funds for the preservation of our historic site and the wellbeing of our Brethren. Your donation, regardless of its size, will make a tangible and significant difference. Every contribution is a step toward preserving 450 years of history, and we are deeply grateful for your support.
