Click on the tabs below for more information about accessibility and facilities at the Lord Leycester.

Accessibility For All

We hope everyone who visits The Lord Leycester enjoys their experience. We are wheelchair and buggy friendly across 85% of the site. The Chapel and Master’s Dining Room are inaccessible to wheelchair users, although the inside of the chapel can be viewed using an interactive touchscreen in the Guild Hall and the Master’s Dining Room can be viewed through the window from the Courtyard. We have a new accessibility lift, and we welcome assistance dogs. For more information, please see the details below.

Accessible Parking

There is one Blue Badge parking space available on site, available on a first-come, first-served basis. Further accessible parking is available on the double yellow lines on Brook Street with an official Blue Badge Permit. Badge holders may park on single or double yellow lines for up to 3 hours.

Assistance Dogs

We welcome assistance dogs and can also provide water bowls for them. Please just ask!

Carer Tickets

Visitors who require a carer are entitled to a FREE Carer ticket. Please present your Carer ID Card for verification upon arrival.

Family Facilities

Baby changing facilities are available onsite. We are a breast-feeding friendly venue and bottle-warming facilities are available in the Café. Highchairs are also available in the Café.

Hidden Disabilities

For visitors with hidden disabilities we recommend wearing a Sunflower lanyard.  Wearing a lanyard is a discreet way to inform our staff that you may require a little more help or time.

Toilets

Toilets are located in the Great Hall. The accessible toilet can be accessed through the courtyard into the Great Hall. The nearest Changing Places toilets are located at Warwickshire County Council Shire Hall building which is 800 meters away.

Local Defibrillators

Whilst we don’t have a defibrillator on-site, there are several local spaces that have defibrillators that are readily accessible to the public. The closest being outside of West Gate Primary School on Bowling Green Street.

Emergency Evacuation

There is a building emergency evacuation plan and procedure for assisted escape for visitors with any type of disability/impairment, if required. If you require evacuation assistance on your visit to the Lord Leycester, please speak to a member of our front of house team so that we can explain our plan to you or you can contact us beforehand to discuss this.

Mobility Scooter Usage

Due to the historic nature of the Lord Leycester and the age, layout, and surfaces of our buildings, we are unfortunately unable to allow mobility scooters inside the historic areas of the site. Visitors using mobility scooters are very welcome to access the Great Hall Café with their scooter. If you wish to visit the historic buildings, we kindly ask that mobility scooters are left on the frontage outside.

This restriction does not apply to wheelchairs — the site is fully accessible to wheelchair users.

Unfortunately, we are unable to offer charging facilities for mobility scooters on site. Our team will be happy to assist where possible and answer any questions during your visit.
