Celebrate Heritage Open Days 2026 with free admission to the Lord Leycester and discover one of Britain’s most remarkable historic sites.
Explore over 900 years of history as you wander through our medieval buildings, beautiful gardens and historic courtyards, and uncover the stories of the military veterans, known as the Brethren, who have called the Lord Leycester home since the 16th century.
Throughout the day, enjoy live music from the Mellow Sounds Recorder Trio, bringing the Guildhall to life with a programme of beautiful period music.
Visitors can also enhance their day by booking one of our guided tours, offering the chance to delve even deeper into the history of the Lord Leycester.

Brethren Guided Tour (£4 per person)
Discover the history of the Lord Leycester and hear the remarkable stories of the Brethren, past and present, on our flagship guided tour.
Garden Tour (£4 per person)
Explore the history, planting and hidden features of our beautiful Master’s Garden on this relaxed guided walk.
NEW – Master’s House Tour (£10 per person)
Step behind closed doors for an exclusive tour of the Master’s private residence, an area rarely opened to the public. Led by the Master and Mrs Bowyer, this unique experience offers a fascinating insight into life at the Lord Leycester today.
Booking Information
Heritage Open Day admission is free, but pre-booking is essential as entry tickets are expected to sell out in advance. Please book your free admission online or through the Ticket Office before the day to avoid disappointment.
Guided tours have limited capacity and must be booked separately. We strongly recommend booking your tour in advance, as places are likely to fill quickly.
