Civil Ceremonies, Weddings and Receptions at The Lord Leycester
Nestled in the heart of Shakespeare's country, we are one of the most important medieval buildings in the UK. Packed full of history, we offer a unique and picturesque venue, together with wonderful Tudor gardens and a Galleried Courtyard, perfect for creating an atmosphere of intimacy and informality.
Over the centuries, our ancient buildings and 500-year-old gardens have been frequented by Kings, Queens, and many famous visitors. Charles Dickens, Oscar Wilde and Nathanial Hawthorne join a host of well-known actors, movie stars and celebrities who have all admired and celebrated at the Lord Leycester.
We are an exclusive use venue and ceremonies can either be held in the 600-year-old timber-framed Guildhall which seats up to 70 or the ancient Great Hall, with its impressive original Spanish oak beam roof seating up to 100. You are also encouraged to enjoy pre-reception cocktails in the wonderful Galleried Courtyard and the Knot Garden, both of these hidden gems are ideal places to welcome your guests on their arrival. After the ceremony you and your guests can celebrate with champagne in the Master’s Garden before both of you quietly disappear for those all-important bridal photographs. For a truly romantic moment, we suggest a visit to our most picturesque areas, under the spectacular Norman Arch or beside the thatched summer house, perfect!
We invite you to enjoy your wedding breakfast, celebrating with your guests in the ornate surroundings of the medieval Great Hall where King James I dined in 1671. We currently work with a select choice of preferred and reasonably priced catering suppliers and would be delighted to recommend them to you.
